Are you looking for the best weekend jobs?

There are several positives of finding weekend work.

Some people like that they are only working on the weekend, but weekend jobs also let you make money in addition to your Monday through Friday job.

Weekend jobs are a flexible way to make money in your spare time, and that’s a great thing for lots of people.

For people with regular 9-5 jobs, you are probably limited with the amount of money you can make at your job, like if you are paid a salary.

A weekend job lets you make money in your spare time.

Or, perhaps you are in school or staying at home with your kids. You need a job that works with your schedule. Finding a good weekend job will fit in with the rest of your life so you can make money in your spare time.

And, there are a lot of reasons why you may want to make extra money. You might be trying to pay off your debt, saving up for a big vacation, looking for more money to invest, planning for retirement, saving up for a down payment on a house, and more.

There are so many different kinds of flexible weekend jobs out there that will help you realize your goals. There are online jobs, one-time gigs, things that can grow into a bigger business, and more.

When I was paying off my student loan debt, I used all of my spare time to make extra money, including the evenings and weekends. Yes, it was hard at times and sometimes exhausting, but I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

So, if you’re wanting to make extra money, then finding ways to work on the weekend can help you greatly.

Finding a weekend job can be great for people who only have the weekends available, such as for students or parents. But they are great if you are working a full-time job and want to make money in your spare time.

What jobs can I do on the weekend?

There are so many different options for good weekend jobs. There are freelancing options, one-time gigs, online jobs, jobs where you work for yourself, and more.

The jobs I’m about to tell you about aren’t all typical part time jobs that are hiring for weekend help. Many of these are ideas that you can do in your spare time, whenever that is.

What are good Saturday and Sunday jobs? What is the best weekend job?

There are many different types of jobs that are available over the weekend.

You may be able to create your own flexible schedule, you may be starting your own weekend business, you may be working for someone else on the weekend, or something else. There are many different types of options that exist.

Some of the weekend jobs on this list pay better than others, so you will want to think about your goals to figure out which job is best for you.

How do I find part time weekend jobs near me, and how do I get a weekend job?

You will see that a lot of the weekend jobs on this list are ones you can find online, so they work no matter where you live.

But, there are also ones that you can find through social media, on job websites like Upwork or Fiverr, through Craigslist, and more.

Some of these jobs will require you to apply and interview.

However, a lot of these weekend jobs are ones that anyone can start and do on their own. You will be able to set your own hours and be your own boss, but you will still have to work hard if you want to make money.

The best weekend jobs for extra money.

1. Become a secret shopper.

If you are looking for a weekend job to make a little bit of extra spending money each month, then becoming a secret shopper can be an interesting way to do so.

A secret shopper is when you get paid to eat at restaurants, get a haircut, or go shopping, and then rating your experience.

Now, you may have to spend some money in order to complete the mystery shops, but once you complete the shop and fill out the survey, then you can get paid fairly quickly.

Some mystery shops don’t require that you spend any money, such as if you sign up for phone call mystery shops. Instead, you will have to call a business, pretend to be a customer, and ask a set of questions that the mystery shopping company gives you.

I used to mystery shop ALL THE TIME. I would go to nice restaurants, buy makeup, go shopping, complete phone calls, and more in order to make money through mystery shopping.

It helped me pay off $38,000 in student loans. I made anywhere from $150 to $200 a month mystery shopping and received free meals, makeup, and more. I only used Bestmark for mystery shopping, so I know that they are a 100% legitimate company.

What jobs can you do on the weekend?

2. Walk dogs or pet sit.

When people with pets go out of town, they may hire a pet sitter or dog walker to take care of their pets, and many people go out of town on the weekends.

This is where you come in!

If you like to spend time with animals, then this could be one of the best weekend jobs for you.

This side job may have you going over to your client’s home to check in a few times a day, you may be staying at their house, or the animals may be staying with you.

For dog boarding, you may be able to make around $25 and up per day for watching someone’s pet in your home. This is a great service to offer, and if you love animals (which you should if you are going to do this side hustle) then it could be enjoyable as well!

Rover is a great company that you can sign up with in order to become a dog walker and pet sitter. We’ve hired dog sitters through Rover many times, and it’s always been a great experience.

3. Take online surveys for virtual weekend jobs.

Another one of the top ways I made money on the side of my day job was by taking part in paid online surveys.

No, I didn’t make a ton of money by taking surveys, but I was able to earn some extra money in the evenings and on the weekends. I often received checks for $50 to $100 by simply completing surveys in my free time. I often got free items as well.

Companies NEED market research to find out what people think of their products. Market research firms conduct surveys for companies, and they pay for honest opinions.

To increase your chances of making money, I recommend signing up for as many online survey companies as you can. I say this because individual survey companies may only send a few surveys your way each month, so the more you sign up for, the more money you may be able to make.

Here are the survey companies I recommend:

  1. American Consumer Opinion
  2. Survey Junkie
  3. Swagbucks
  4. InboxDollars
  5. Opinion Outpost
  6. OneOpinion
  7. Pinecone Research
  8. Prize Rebel
  9. Survey Club

4. Pick up trash for good paying weekend jobs.

This might not be the most glamorous option, but did you know that you can get paid $30- $50 an hour to pick up trash?

Yes, you can start a side hustle or even a full-time business picking up trash for local businesses. It doesn’t take a lot of money to get started doing this (you pretty much just need a broom, dustpan, and grabber tools), and you can have a fairly flexible schedule.

Learn more at Get Paid $30 – $50 Per Hour To Pick Up Trash.

5. Sell items that you have in your home.

The weekends are a great time to make money by selling items from around your home.

I’m sure you have stuff laying around your own home that you can sell. You may have clothing, old cell phones or laptops, appliances that you have since replaced, books, furniture, gift cards, and so on.

You might not realize it now, but you probably have a lot of stuff sitting around to sell. And, there are many ways you can sell your things, including:

  • Thrift stores– Thrift stores may pay on consignment, cash on the spot, or store credit. Taking your stuff to a thrift store will probably be the fastest and easiest way to sell things as they will be able to pay you cash right away for whatever they can sell.
  • eBay– eBay is an online marketplace that can be a great way to reach a larger market for all sorts of things, like clothing, electronics, collectibles, etc.
  • Craigslist– Selling on this free site can be one of the easiest ways to make money, but be safe and don’t fall for any Craigslist scams.
  • Garage/yard sale– This can be an easy way to sell many things at once, plus you can do it all from your home. A downside is that the pay is usually lower.
  • Facebook– There are specific groups on Facebook dedicated to selling items to people in the same city as you.

6. Become an Amazon seller.

This might surprise you, but Amazon has many people who sell items and earn money from home on the weekends, and many make a good amount of money doing so.

In my blog post, How To Work From Home Selling On Amazon FBA, you will learn:

  • What exactly Amazon FBA is
  • How to choose what to buy and sell
  • How much money a person can expect to earn
  • The positives of selling on Amazon, and more

If you want to learn more about starting an Amazon business, I recommend signing up for this free training that will teach you how to sell products on Amazon and make $100 to $500 per day.

7. Become a bookkeeper.

A bookkeeper is someone who tracks the finances of a business. Your hours can be quite flexible, so you can choose to work on the weekend for your clients.

This is a great work from home job because you don’t have to be an accountant or have any previous experience!

You can learn more about this job in Make Money At Home By Becoming A Bookkeeper.

Topics discussed include:

  • What a bookkeeper is
  • The typical clients a bookkeeper has
  • How much new bookkeepers earn
  • How to become a bookkeeper
  • The positives and negatives of bookkeeping

Also, you can sign up here for a free series that will teach you more about running your own virtual bookkeeping business.

8. Work as a babysitter or a nanny.

Parents are almost always looking for good babysitters, and they are willing to pay well for a night out. If you think about when parents go out, it’s often on weekends.

Websites like Care.com and SitterCity.com allow you to advertise your services while letting you see if there is anyone in your area needing your services. This means that you may be able to find a one-time job or even a permanent babysitting gig just by searching online.

I started watching children when I was just 14 and I was making $10 an hour babysitting for someone in my neighborhood (this was quite some time ago as well!) . I babysat 40 hours a week and it was a great way to make extra money! And, I found this babysitting gig by just looking at the bulletin board in my neighborhood.

If you have any special skills or provide extra work, such as cleaning up around the house, teaching the child how to speak another language, tutoring, picking up the child from activities, and so on, you will most likely be able to charge more than $10 an hour.

If you’re looking for good weekend jobs for college students, many parents like young and energetic babysitters, so this might be a great job if you’re in college.

9. Teach English online.

VIPKID is the #1 platform for teaching English online in China. They also recently ranked #1 on Forbes magazine’s “Top 100 Remote Work Companies Report” for 2018, and they have won many other awards as well.

VIPKID is a company that connects native English speaking teachers with students in China aged 4-12, and you can earn up to $22 an hour teaching English online with VIPKID.

On VIPKID’s website, they say that the most requested time periods in Beijing include Saturday to Sunday from 9am-9pm (Beijing time).

So, this can be a great weekend job, and I highly recommend VIPKID!

Teaching English online has become very popular recently because it is flexible, there’s a high need, and it pays fairly well.

Surprisingly, you don’t need to be a teacher to teach English online. You don’t even need to speak more than one language – you only need to speak English.

Because VIPKID is becoming more and more popular in China, they need more English speaking teachers to work for them. They develop a curriculum for you, so that makes it quite easy.

The requirements for teaching with VIPKID are:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. or Canadian university
  • Experience with children in areas such as: babysitting, teaching, mentoring, coaching, tutoring, etc.
  • High-speed internet, computer, and webcam/microphone

10. Bartend for weekend work.

Weekends, of course, tend to be the busiest for bartenders.

Whether you work at a restaurant, a bar, at events like weddings, or something else, bartenders can see a lot of work hours over the weekend.

If you have bartending experience, then you may be able to find bartending weekend jobs at a bar, restaurant, catering company, and more. Since the hours for this are usually later at night and on the weekends, you will probably be able to find a bartending job that works well with a regular 9-5 job schedule.

11. Find weekend jobs on Craigslist.

Craigslist is a great place to go if you are wanting to find part-time weekend jobs near you. There are many, many random one-time jobs that you can find on your local Craigslist.

One great thing about these jobs is that you usually get paid before or right after you complete the work, which means that you can get paid the same day.

To find random gigs in your area, just go to Craigslist and look for the “gigs” section.

An easy way to get through the searches if you are specifically looking for weekend-only jobs, is to go to the gigs section, and in the search bar type in “weekend.” I did this and many, many jobs popped up right away.

Here are some jobs I found through a quick search:

  • Quilt repairer
  • Mover
  • Handyman
  • Moving scooters
  • RV transporter
  • Movie extra
  • Weekend cleaner
  • Bartender
  • Sign holder

Here are screenshots of some of these easy to find Craigslist gigs:

12. Get paid to move furniture.

Moving is a task that most people don’t enjoy, but if you’re up for some physical activity, then it can be a great way to make money if you’re looking for weekend jobs.

Movers can earn a broad range when it comes to hourly pay, but it’s usually somewhere around $50 an hour if you run your own business.

To find moving gigs so that you can learn how to make money fast, you may be able to simply post an advertisement on Craigslist, post flyers around your area, or offer your services to anyone you know that might be moving. Many people find movers at the last moment, so you may be able to find a quick job quite easily.

13. Maintain and clean yards.

Maintaining and cleaning yards are popular summer weekend jobs, but they can also be done year round in different ways (such as snow removal in the winter, or leaf removal in the fall).

You can make money by mowing lawns, killing/removing weeds, cleaning gutters, raking leaves, and so on.

To find yard cleaning weekend side jobs, you can:

  • Share a Craigslist ad describing what you do.
  • Search Craigslist gigs, as discussed above, and see if there are any available weekend yard work jobs in your area.
  • Attach flyers to a local bulletin board.
  • Share your services on social media, such as on your personal Facebook account.
  • Go door to door and see if someone near you needs yard work completed.

14. Create a blog to work from home.

I started this blog on the side of my day jobs, and I mainly worked on it at night time and on the weekends. I am so happy that I started it back then, as it has completely changed my life.

It allows me to travel full-time, have a flexible schedule, earn a great income, and more.

I created Making Sense of Cents in 2011, and since then, I have earned over $5,000,000 with my blog.

My blog was created on a whim as a way to track my own personal finance progress. And when I first started my blog, I honestly didn’t even know that people could make money blogging or how to start a successful blog!

Blogging is quite affordable to start too.

You can learn how to start a blog with my free How To Start a Blog Course.

15. Become an online tutor for online weekend jobs.

Course Hero is an online learning website that helps high school and college students with course-specific questions.

Course Hero has study resources where students can search by their specific school to find study guides, videos, practice problems, class notes, and step-by-step explanations. Course Hero needs people to create these resources or work as tutors.

Using the website, students connect with Course Hero tutors on a wide range of subjects and classes, which makes this a great online work from home job for people with different educational backgrounds and experience.

What might surprise you to learn is that you don’t have to be a certified tutor, a professor, or a teacher in order to become a Course Hero tutor.

Tutors earn an average of $3 for each question they answer on Course Hero. Earning between $12-$20 per hour, Course Hero tutors earn an average of $300 a week.

16. Become an outdoor guide or instructor.

Many outdoor jobs are in high demand on the weekend, due to more tourists, people being off on the weekend more often, and so on. This means that outdoor guides and instructors tend to be more in demand on the weekends.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says that outdoor jobs in this area are expected to grow by 14% between 2012 and 2022.

There are many outdoor jobs that involve being a guide or instructor, and it really just depends on your skill level and/or what you may be able to learn (such as if someone is looking for an apprentice).

Ideas for these kinds of outside jobs may include:

  • Hiking guide
  • Rock climbing guide
  • Diving guide
  • Kayaking/canoeing guide
  • Fishing guide
  • Skiing guide
  • Surfing instructor

Those are just a few ideas, as there are lots more outdoor activities.

You may find work for a private outdoors company, be self-employed (with your own company), at a park (such as a national park), a summer camp, and so on.

17. Search Engine Evaluator.

A Search Engine Evaluator (also known as a Google Rater) is where you rate websites based on their quality and usefulness.

You are rating websites to help Google improve their search engine results.

This is a job that you can work from home, and you don’t need to be a technical person in order to make money as a search engine evaluator. Another great positive is that you can work in the language of your country, as Google operates in nearly every country around the world.

Learn more at How To Become a Search Engine Evaluator.

18. Become a virtual assistant for good weekend jobs.

Virtual assisting is a field that is growing extremely fast, and this is work that many people do during the weekends.

A virtual assistant is someone who works online for someone else. You may never even meet the person (so you don’t have to be in the same town as them), but there are many virtual tasks that you can complete.

You may be assisting them with running a website, their social media accounts, managing their calendar and schedule, answering emails, managing other virtual workers, and so on.

You can learn more at How This Woman Earns $10,000 Per Month as a Virtual Assistant.

19. Run Facebook ads for local businesses.

A great weekend job that you can learn how to do is running Facebook ads for businesses near you.

With Facebook advertising, you can help businesses expand their reach.

And, yes, this is a skill that you can learn!

20. Become a freelance writer for weekend only jobs.

I used to freelance write all the time for others, and I often did this on the weekend as that’s when I had the most time available.

So, what is a freelance writer?

A freelance writer is someone who writes for different clients, such as websites, blogs, magazines, advertising companies, books, and more.

They don’t work for one specific company, rather they work for themselves and contract out their writing.

This can be a great job if you’re looking for something flexible, where you can create your own hours.

21. Transcribe audio or video content into text.

Another good paying weekend job with a flexible schedule is transcription work.

22. Work as a freelancer.

Freelancers run their own business, and they do work for a variety of clients. A business may hire you for one-time gigs, or you may get a long-term freelancing job.

In addition to some of the weekend freelance jobs I’ve mentioned in this article (writing, proofreading, transcribing, and bookkeeping) there are even more freelance jobs out there for people who have experience in a variety of areas, such as:

  • Graphic design
  • Video editing
  • Search engine optimization
  • Programming
  • Photography

This is one of the best work from home jobs because you can use a skill you already have and start finding work on job platforms like UpWork and Fiverr.

23. Work as a rideshare driver.

People often use rideshare drivers when they are going out so they can safely get home from bars, restaurants, events, and more. And because those are popular weekend things, there is a lot of work for rideshare drivers on the weekends.

Uber and Lyft are two of the most popular rideshare companies, and many people drive for both to make the most money.

24. Teach classes or private lessons.

If you have a skill that is unique to you, you can teach it to others on the weekend to make money. You could teach people how to knit, crochet, do woodworking, make jewelry, speak a foreign language, how to draw, how to play an instrument, and more.

This is one of the weekend jobs that pays fairly well per hour too.

You can make $25-$50 giving individual lessons, or up to $100 per hour for classes. You can advertise your services on social media, tell your friends about, advertise your services in local businesses, and more.

25. Become a proofreader.

The last job I’d like to talk about today is becoming a proofreader. Proofreading work is often very flexible, which means you can easily make this a weekend only job.

And, all you need to work as a proofreader is a laptop or tablet, internet, and the ability to find punctuation mistakes, misspelled words, lack of consistency, and formatting errors.

Proofreaders take content that other people have written and go over it with a fine-tooth comb. You might be proofreading blog posts, print articles, academic articles, website copy, ad copy, books, student papers, emails, and more.
